WoW Forever Pre-Raid Gear Guide for Every Class

All nine Dungeon Set 1 armor sets of WoW Forever, one for every class

Quick summary

  • Raids open on 9 December, five weeks after launch. Pre-raid gear is what you wear into the Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair.
  • Every class’s Dungeon Set 1 (Tier 0) is in WoW Forever, still eight pieces, but with reworked bonuses that are complete at six pieces.
  • The set still comes from Scholomance, Stratholme and Blackrock Spire, with a few pieces as world drops. Dungeon Set 2 (Tier 0.5) upgrade quests are in the game files too.
  • Crafted standouts survived: Lionheart Helm, Devilsaur, the Dragonscale sets, Robe of the Archmage, Truefaith Vestments and more.
  • Many Classic favourites, like Hand of Justice and Blackhand’s Breadth, aren’t in Forever’s data, and the loot of the new level 55–60 dungeons hasn’t been revealed. This guide lists only what’s confirmed and will grow as loot appears.

Pre-raid gear in WoW Forever: what we know

Pre-raid gear is the set you put together at 60 from dungeons, quests, crafting and reputation, before raid loot takes over. In WoW Forever that matters from 9 December, when the first three raids open: the Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20 and Onyxia’s Lair for 40.

A word of honesty before the lists: the beta is capped at level 30, so nobody has geared a level 60 character in Forever yet. Blizzard has said it re-examined the loot of every dungeon, improved the old dungeon set bonuses and added hundreds of new drops. You can see that in the game files: many Classic pre-raid staples, such as Hand of Justice, Blackhand’s Breadth and Truestrike Shoulders, aren’t in Forever’s data at all, and the loot of the new endgame dungeons hasn’t been revealed.

So this guide only lists items that exist in WoW Forever right now, with their Forever stats and sources. Hover any item to see its tooltip. We’ll add the rest as the loot comes out.

Where pre-raid gear comes from

SourceWhat it gives
Scholomance, Stratholme, Blackrock SpireMost of every class’s Dungeon Set 1, plus strong single drops like the Mask of the Unforgiven and Cape of the Black Baron.
Blackrock DepthsThe The Gladiator set, reworked into a six-piece set with bonuses in Forever.
New dungeons: Alcaz Prison (48–53), Blackmaw Hold (55–60), Shaper’s Terrace (58–60)Loot not revealed yet. Shaper’s Terrace has four bosses, Nanaya, Cinder, Bolt and Snowtalon, and it’s the level 58–60 dungeon, so expect it to be a major pre-raid source.
CraftingThe crafted favourites below, made with Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, Tailoring and Engineering. Crafting at camp stations is new in Forever.
QuestsBlizzard says quest rewards now offer options for more roles. The Dungeon Set 2 (Tier 0.5) upgrade quests are in the game files.

Stats work differently now

  • Hit and crit are each one stat. Melee, ranged and spell hit are merged, and so is crit, so every point counts for every attack and spell. Blizzard hasn’t published a hit cap.
  • Bonus healing gives a third as much bonus damage, so healing gear isn’t wasted for a hybrid that also deals damage.
  • Items carry less weapon skill, and some now lower your chance to be dodged or parried instead.

Dungeon Set 1 (Tier 0) in Forever

Every class still has its eight-piece Dungeon Set 1, often called Tier 0. The pieces come from the same places as in Classic: the helm from Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance, the legs from Baron Rivendare in Stratholme, the chest from General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire, and a few belts, bracers and gloves as world drops.

What changed is the set bonus. In Classic the bonuses came at 2, 4, 6 and 8 pieces. In Forever they come at 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 pieces, with nothing extra for the seventh and eighth. Every set gives +8 to all resistances at two pieces and its main stat bonus at three (spell power, Attack Power or Strength). The fifth piece adds a proc and the sixth adds regeneration. In practice, you can complete the bonus and swap your two weakest Tier 0 pieces for better items.

The Dungeon Set 2 (Tier 0.5) sets, upgraded through a quest chain, are in the game files too. Their bonuses currently look unchanged from Classic, so they may still be reworked.

New in Forever: The Gladiator set

The Savage Gladiator gear from Blackrock Depths’s Ring of Law used to be a loose collection of mail pieces. In Forever it’s a proper set, The Gladiator, with a new Savage Gladiator Shoulders piece, and bonuses at 2 to 5 pieces: less chance to be feared, +20 Attack Power, an attack speed proc that triggers more often when you fight alone, and 1% crit. It suits Hunters, Enhancement Shamans and anyone in mail who fights in melee.

What’s next

Expect this guide to change a lot over the next weeks. The gaps to watch: the loot of Blackmaw Hold, Shaper’s Terrace and Alcaz Prison; whether Classic items like Hand of Justice return in a new form; reputation rewards; and the Dungeon Set 2 bonuses. We’ll add full best-in-slot lists for every class once the level 60 loot is known.

After pre-raid gear comes raid gear: see our raids guide for the Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair, our tier sets guide for every class’s Hyjal set, and our dungeons guide for the nine new dungeons.

FAQ

When do I need pre-raid gear in WoW Forever?

Before 9 December 2026, when the Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair open. Launch is 4 November, so you have about five weeks to reach 60 and gear up.

Is Tier 0 (Dungeon Set 1) in WoW Forever?

Yes. Every class has its eight-piece Dungeon Set 1, dropping from Scholomance, Stratholme and Blackrock Spire. The set bonuses were reworked and are now complete at six pieces.

Is Tier 0.5 in WoW Forever?

The Dungeon Set 2 (Tier 0.5) sets and their upgrade quests are in the beta files. Their bonuses look unchanged from Classic so far, so they may still change.

Is Hand of Justice in WoW Forever?

Not as far as anyone can tell. Hand of Justice, Blackhand’s Breadth and many other Classic pre-raid items aren’t in WoW Forever’s game data, so they were either removed or are hidden until launch.

What is the best pre-raid gear in WoW Forever?

Nobody can say for sure yet: the beta is capped at level 30 and the loot of the new level 55–60 dungeons hasn’t been revealed. Confirmed strong picks include Lionheart Helm for plate DPS, Devilsaur for leather DPS, each class’s Tier 0 set, and the class-only crafted robes for Mages, Priests and Warlocks.
