How the hunt was found
Beta players found the start of the hunt at the end of the 
Cozy Sleeping Bag quest chain, and the secret hunting community has been working through it since. Blizzard hasn’t said anything about it, so everything here comes from players on the beta, and it may change before launch.
Both items found so far are green (uncommon) and have an on-use effect with no description. That usually means they’re meant to be used somewhere specific, and nobody has found where the last one goes yet.
What you need first
- Level 14 or higher for the Cozy Sleeping Bag quests.
- The Cozy Sleeping Bag chain finished. It runs from Stonetalon Mountains to Thoradin’s Wall between Hillsbrad and Arathi, and the riddle waits at the end.
- Time and patience for a jumping puzzle. There is no combat in the known steps, but the climb at Blackrock Mountain is easy to fall off.

Step 1: the riddle
Finish the Cozy Sleeping Bag chain and read what’s left at the end. Players read it as a pointer to the Undercity, and more precisely to the sewers under it.
Step 2: the Undercity sewers
Go in through the sewers’ back entrance and look for a barrel. It holds a Torn Page and the Keystone Fragment. Keep both: the next clue is where the Torn Page leads. Horde players can get to the sewers easily. For Alliance players it’s a trip into a Horde city, so bring a friend or be careful.
Steps 3 and 4: Blackrock Mountain
The Torn Page points to Blackrock Mountain, near the entrance to Upper Blackrock Spire. How exactly the clue should be read is still argued about, but players got through it. The route goes over platforms on the outside of Lower Blackrock Spire, in an area that doesn’t normally load in, to a guarded bag.
Blackrock Mountain sits between Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes, which are high-level zones. On a low-level character the trip there is the dangerous part, not the puzzle.
Step 5: the Stone Key
Use the Keystone Fragment on the guarded bag and it opens. Inside is the Stone Key, another green item with an on-use effect and no description.

What’s still unsolved
Nobody knows yet what the Stone Key opens or what the hunt ends with. Players have guesses, since Blackrock Mountain is full of locked doors and hidden rooms, but none has been confirmed. The Keystone Fragment’s name hints at a bigger key, so there could be more pieces to find.
WoW Forever launches on 4 November, and Blizzard can change or reset the hunt before then. Anything found on the beta shows how it works, not exactly how it will look at launch.
Tips if you’re hunting
- Screenshot every clue. The Torn Page is easy to lose in your bags, and clues read differently once you’ve seen the next step.
- Check for flags before you climb. On the PvP ruleset, Blackrock Mountain is contested, and the platforms are a bad place to be attacked.
- Don’t sell or destroy unknown green items. Both hunt items look like vendor trash at first glance.
